Happy Birthday, Mom

Some (small people) know her as Grammy. Tanya and I had mom, dad, and roxanne over for various types of shish-ka-bobs, grilled veg-e-tables, cake and ice cream. Mom appeared to like the halloween punch bowl that we gave her. Roxanne's gift was lame in comparison.

Opening our gift.

Night of Knockouts II

Storch, biggs, and I saw some boxing matches at the Royal Oak Music Theatre last night. None of the fights were exceptional, but most did end in a TKO. A fight that could have been good was, in our opinion, stopped too early. The guy was 6'7" and weighed around 350. He could definitely take a punch, but the ref stepped in around 1/2 way into the first round.

A good thing about seeing fights live is the crowd. Some examples below. The dude in the caribbean sea-blue suit was my favorite. Matt favored the gaunt old man with the whispy mohawk. Storch liked the round 4 girl.

Hi, Hitman.

Huge white man on right.

Little Hands of Stone, ready to connect with you.

Cool hair, bra.

Get ready to get ready.

The next fight night is at DeCarlo's Banquet Hall in Warren on Friday, October 10. Tickets are $25 a pop. The headliner, Leo Nolan, is a heavyweight with a 26-1 record. There's also a light-heavyweight making his pro debut named Isiah Thomas -- not kidding. There will be a total of eight fights. Plus there's a chance that you'll get shanked during a match, or afterward in the parking-lot. But that just adds to the excitement.

(Oh, and happy birthday, mom.)
