Happy Birthday, Mom
Some (small people) know her as Grammy. Tanya and I had mom, dad, and roxanne over for various types of shish-ka-bobs, grilled veg-e-tables, cake and ice cream. Mom appeared to like the halloween punch bowl that we gave her. Roxanne's gift was lame in comparison. Opening our gift.
Opening Roxanne's gift. :(

Night of Knockouts II
Storch, biggs, and I saw some boxing matches at the Royal Oak Music Theatre last night. None of the fights were exceptional, but most did end in a TKO. A fight that could have been good was, in our opinion, stopped too early. The guy was 6'7" and weighed around 350. He could definitely take a punch, but the ref stepped in around 1/2 way into the first round.
A good thing about seeing fights live is the crowd. Some examples below. The dude in the caribbean sea-blue suit was my favorite. Matt favored the gaunt old man with the whispy mohawk. Storch liked the round 4 girl. Hi, Hitman.
Huge white man on right.
Little Hands of Stone, ready to connect with you.
Cool hair, bra.
Get ready to get ready.
The next fight night is at DeCarlo's Banquet Hall in Warren on Friday, October 10. Tickets are $25 a pop. The headliner, Leo Nolan, is a heavyweight with a 26-1 record. There's also a light-heavyweight making his pro debut named Isiah Thomas -- not kidding. There will be a total of eight fights. Plus there's a chance that you'll get shanked during a match, or afterward in the parking-lot. But that just adds to the excitement.
(Oh, and happy birthday, mom.)

Floor Hockey Buttholes
I was browsing through my e-mail archive at work a few weeks back and found some old photos from our floor hockey games back in 1999/2000. Mike (stairz) originally sent these to me on March 21, 2000. I remember going to a slightly crappy Chinese restaurant before a few of these games and eating full Chinese meals and drinking mai tai's (or something like them). Other favorite memories: my Christopher Reeve cup (still in a bag in my basement); the Polish Pistol's stick-handling and scoring wizardry; Cotton.
Let's go!
Back L-R: What's the little dude's name(?), Polish Pistol, me, Rapai, Topper, Ron Myers.
Front L-R: Stairz, Cotton.
Not Pictured: Ben, Nick, Spud, Gary, That little guy that Gary got into a fight with, Marty, Le Quiox. This is Spud, who I think was the 12-year-old daughter of Rapai, dancing with an unidentified bearded man at a bar after one of our games. WTF?
This is just so shitty.
Cotton, minutes before defecating in the Cup.
Jeff had a crush on Spud, if I recall correctly.
I don't know why the waiters wore blouses at that bar.

Magglio
Big ups to Ron Myers for alerting the Everett men to the presence of Magglio Ordoñez a couple of weeks ago in Grand Rapids. Here are various pics and some of the video I took during Maggs' rehab game with the White Caps.Ron picks up the tickets at will-call. Row 1, seats 2 & 3.
Mikey's Tiger is in the hole!!
He appears to have some sort of chicklet in his mouth.
Mikey with the ball given to him by Magglio. Thanks to Brick for suggesting to Maggs that he give the ball to the kid. Mikey -- keep that ball out of the pool and away from BARLEY.
I ate a tube of popcorn.
Row 3. Oh... Magglio.
Thanks again, Brick Myers.

Car off a cliff... hamburgers... tiger game....
Biggs and I saw a car launched off of a cliff on Saturday. It's going to be a scene in a film called "Youth in Revolt." Here's a picture below, with more to come as soon as I get the filmage from taterson.
(also coming soon: photos and film of Magglio in West Michigan, as soon as I get the damn files off my decrepit camera.)

Woot!
Hi. What month is this? June? Here's a picture of me and my co-workers. We craft encyclopedias and share the same cube-row. I'm on the left, Andy is in the middle, and Deidre is on the right (picture by Tanya). We're at Andy's graduation party. Andy and Deirdre like to break balls at work. They also have super awesome myspace pages (my blog is better).

Totally F'd in the A
This is unbelievable. I have again (AGAIN) become the victim of another car accident. Again (AGAIN) completely not my fault.
I'm driving along Campbell rd Saturday afternoon when a youngster in a honda something lost control while attempting to stop on a side street. Instead of stopping his car slid on a patch of ice and t-boned my back passenger-side tire. I tried to swerve out of his way, but wasn't fast enough. The impact pushed me into the oncoming traffic lanes (luckily no cars were coming) and spun me around 360 degrees. I came to rest on someone's front lawn.
I sat in an ambulance for a few minutes, but didn't go to the hospital. My neck is sore and I'm angry. It's nice that no one really got hurt, but holy shit. The tire took a direct hit and I can't tell if the frame or axle is messed up, hopefully it isn't totaled. Again my only recourse is to get $500 from the kid's insurance company (the $500 check from the other douchebag's insurance company came last week). Has anyone ever heard of a person getting hit three times in two months? Fuck...
this.

Foo Foo
Hi! Shawn, Tanya, and I enjoyed the "Foo Fighters" show at Joe Louis a couple of nights ago. I have to say that I enjoyed their power riffs. Tanya thinks Dave Grohl is dreamy (see pic below). The opening band was Serj Tankian (sp?). He was kind of goofy; prancing around in a white top-hat. Otherwise he sucked. Dave Grohl of the band "Foo Fighters."

Updates...
- Jackie told me that the Kalamazoo Court System sent her a restitution check. I like that.
- My stupid car thing is still unresolved. Per Michigan's no-fault law, my only recourse is to take the guy to small claims court and get $500, which won't even come close to covering the repairs. Even though I was sitting at a fucking red light and he ran into me. So, if that's the case I'm going to send the guy an e-mail and see if he'll pay for my repairs. He probably won't, the dikbag. Who drives like that? My car wasn't moving. I was sitting at a red light!
- Our backsplash tile came in. Here's a couple pictures. We'll put it in next weekend. Right Mom?Sharp.
It was pizza night here. Bye for now.

Vehicular Douchebaggetry
I got into my second car accident of 2008 tonight. The first was minor: a few weeks ago I was sitting behind a guy that was fucking around in his car when the red light turned green. A few seconds later the jackass behind me decided to go and rammed me. My car wasn't damaged, but her mercedes was pretty messed up.
Today I was leaving work and a total douche clipped the front of my driver's side. I was sitting at a red light (again) waiting to turn right on a one-way out my work parking lot. This 48 year old salt n pepper head in a black sentra raced up behind me, swerved to the left of me, then turned too sharp in front of me, tearing a fucking hole in my car. It was the kind of move I would have made when I was 16, but I wouldn't have hit anyone.
Peep the damage:

Pistons
Oh, hey. Hi! How are you? The game was fun last night. We saw Al at the Post for a pre-game dinner and drinks. It was a good game, too. Tanya's favorite parts were the explosions during the introductions and the many alley-oop plays. That Brezec dude is a weirdo. He's constantly stretching on the scorer's table, rubbing his hammy, having his chest massaged by Arnie Kander, and icing himself down with strange contraptions. All this in preparation for two minutes of garbage time. I'd be a sweet twelfth man -- if only I were a foot taller. That lucky son of a bitch.
Here's a video/photo montage, complete with sophisticated jazz soundtrack.
